A – Yes, absolutely. See below for information on the tax rebates for donations to political parties
Q – What is the maximum amount I can legally donate to an officially registered party?
A – According to Elections Canada, the maximum allowable total donation to each registered political party for 2021 is $1650. That means you can donate a total of up to $1650 to each political party registered with Elections Canada . Elections Canada also allows you to donate up to a maximum total of $1650 to all registered EDA’s, including nomination contestants and candidates of each registered party. Q – What is the maximum non-refundable tax credit I can receive?
A – The Income Tax Act has a sliding scale for political donations (Income Tax Act 127(3)), with the maximum allowable credit being $650. See the table below:
